Carl Wutte  (1849-1927) was known as a German architecture and landscape painter. He studied from 1871 to 1873 at the Art Academy in Berlin, 1873 with Angelo Quaglio II (1829-1890) in Munich, and from 1877 to 1878 with Eugen Ducker in Dusseldorf.  In 1874 he traveled to Italy, where he remained until 1876, painting in Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. He visited Andalusia and Norway in 1880 and 1894, settling in Munich in1885.  Wuttke traveled to some unusual destinations to paint, including Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Sudan), the Sinai,  and in 1893 the United StatesIn 1897-99 he undertook a world tour, during which he visited China and Japan. Upon returning from the Far East, he was commissioned by Kaiser Wilhelm II to paint the Silver Salon of the Berlin Castle. He also executed commissions for Prince Heinrich of Prussia.
